Plot
A retired CIA agent is stalked by both the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares when a stranger suddenly visits him after nearly three decades. Production was halted in March 2020 due to government restrictions. During this time, Jeff Bridges was diagnosed and treated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Bridges referred to the return as a “long weekend” in a podcast in July 2022. This series starts off very strong with big action and a slow-moving storyline that leaves you very intrigued. Once you get caught up by episode 4, things don’t go so well.
Lithgow and Bridges are excellent
Shawcat is something of a boat anchor, delivering each line almost monotonously. None of the characters are particularly endearing. As the plot and action slow down after a few episodes, a lot of clunky dialogue takes its place.
I’ll keep watching, hoping things improve
It seems clear that the writers tried to recreate the style of The Counselor, written by Cormac McCarthy, but didn’t do such a good job. The more literary style of The Counselor left many viewers confused. Even more so a bad copy will be.
