American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)

Plot

It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how with her unique mind she manages to help solve a crime by rearranging evidence during her shift as a cleaner at the police station. Despite his very high IQ, excellent memory, and deep knowledge of secrets, Morgan makes a number of basic legal mistakes that anyone who has ever watched a legal show on TV knows not to make. In the first episode, for example, he retrieves a document from a locked safe at the suspect-victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court – evidence obtained illegally.

I mean, the only characters I’ve ever seen Caitlin Olson play are lovable women with a very biting sense of humor. If you like that about her, don’t worry, she definitely brings both to the role. But somehow he does it in a mature way.

Although I’ve only seen the first episode so far, it seems to be a series similar to the aforementioned Psych! In it, Olson plays a character with an extremely high IQ who also suffers from a form of obsessive-compulsive disorder that causes him to obsess over things that don’t belong. He also has a very good sense of observation and uses these quirks to help the local police solve crimes.

It’s not a detective drama, but it’s not a laugh-out-loud comedy either. It’s a light action crime series like ABC’s The Rookie and even gives me the vibe of FX’s brilliant Rescue Me from the early 2000’s. The first episode was enjoyable and I hope the series continues in the same direction with enough dark humor to do so pleasant but without turning.
